CoBA’s Technical Lead participated in the East Africa Blood Disorders Leadership Forum in Nairobi, Kenya—a dynamic gathering of thought leaders, patient organizations, government representatives, and patients. This collaborative platform focused on advocating for better care and support for those affected by blood disorders, leveraging shared experiences to drive innovative healthcare solutions in the region.

During the forum, CoBA emphasized the urgent need to address low blood donation rates, which remain significantly below WHO recommendations. Highlighting the critical role of blood in managing various blood disorders, CoBA reinforced that blood donation is a shared responsibility. We stressed the importance of educating communities on the life-saving impact of donation and called for increased funding to support and expand blood donation initiatives.
