Give Blood: Save a Mother!
To Commemorate the International Women’s Day in Kenya on 8th March, the Coalition of Blood for Africa (CoBA) partnered with the Kenya National Blood Transfusion Services for a three days blood drive to collect 3000 units of blood for immediate transfusion to treat Post-partum haemorrhage among Kenyan mothers.
The campaign dubbed ‘From the Heart’ ran in 33 sites across the country from Sunday 7th March- Tuesday 9th March to mark International Women’s Day.
Statistics show that excessive bleeding after childbirth is the leading cause of maternal deaths in the country, accounting for more than 25% of all maternal deaths in Kenya.
